I want to begin this post with a bit of a disclaimer - I'm neither a dermatologist nor an esthetician. But I have been to both and recommend a visit for any skin care needs or concerns if it's possible for you.

I often see people being asked for (as I have been) and sharing their skin care routines. And I'm happy to share my go-to products. But skin care is not a "one-size-fits-all" situation and what works well for me, may not work well for someone whose skin has different needs and preferences (I often like to think my skin is its own entity sometimes - it likes what it likes and hates what it doesn't lol).

To give some background on my skin - I have light skin that may burn easily on the first day or two of a beach vacation, but later that burn turns into a tan. I also freckle and get new moles easily from the sun, so sunscreen is VERY important. But this isn't just true for people with lighter skin tones. Sunscreen will be the most important tool in your skin care arsenal - no matter your complexion - for skin cancer prevention (anti-aging, to me, is just a plus). I know we hear this all of the time when it comes to skin care; but seriously - please do not sleep on good sun protection.

I also developed rosacea when I was around 27 - right as I was planning my wedding (I mean the timing for my first flare-up could not have been more impeccable), so my skin can be quite sensitive. It also leans dry - normal, so a good moisturizer that doesn't irritate my skin is important too. Fortunately, at this point in my life I'm not too acne prone except for the occasional spot during my cycle or papules caused by my rosacea.

So with this in mind, these are the products that have made my skin happy. I also like to rotate between products, for example the two moisturizers, as I find that gives me the best results.

  1. Cerave Hydrating Cleanser

  2. Vinoperfect Radiace Serum - helps with dark spots. I used this for my upper lip.

  3. Caudalie Resveratrol Lift Firming Moisturizer

  4. Laneige Water Bank Moisturizer - great in winter

  5. Belief Moisturizing Eye Bomb

  6. The Ordinary Niacinamide - So many benefits and really helps calm my rosacea and softens my skin. I like to mix it in with my moisturize when applying to my face. This is a quite high percentage and studies show that 4% is enough for most people.

  7. Caudalie Premier Cru Eye Cream -

  8. The Ordinary AHA/ BHA peel - I use this only on occasion and when I am not experience a flare up or acne. Definitely make sure you start with a test patch and follow the instructions before use if you are new to this one. I also often see people misusing this and using WAY too much product. You only need a thin layer.

  9. Super Goop Unseen Suncreen

For any skin concerns, please always talk to a doctor/ dermatologist. As the largest organ of our bodies, our skin can tell us a lot about our health - especially when you notice big changes.

Xo,

Laura
